This is highly analogous to Buddhist teachings. Many Mahayana teachings emphasize "You are already Buddha," and other such sayings. Through meditation and other trainings, we do not attain enlightenment—there is nothing to attain. But these practices allow us to master certain skills, after which we can "just play" and realize the Buddha within. Thanks for posting Dan!
